The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) a coalition of elected Governors’ of the country’s 36 States in collaboration with the Committee of States’ Commissioners of Education, has appointed Distinguished Senator (Barr) Stephen Odey Ph D, Chairman- to head the Technical Working Group (TWG), for the forthcoming International Conference on Girl Child Education in Nigeria, with the theme: “Girl Child Empowerment through Quality Education.” It will be held in commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child in October 11, 2024. The International Conference is being jointly co-hosted by the NGF and Committee of States’ Commissioners of Education in Nigeria.
The inauguration of the Technical Working Group (TWG) is Tuesday, March 26, 2024, with members drawn from the Office of the Vice President, Ministries of Education, Women Affairs and Youths Development, Development Partners and the Private Sector Coalition, Governors Spouses’ Forum and other critical stakeholders, the Technical Working Group has Senator Odey, Cross River State Education Commissioner as Chairman.
The International Conference will also avail critical stakeholders in the education sector the opportunity to commit to Girl Child Education support and funding declaration, launching of the Girl Child Education Volunteers’ Advocate, and unveiling of the Face of the Girl Child Education Ambassadors in the 36 States of the Federation and the FCT.
